Round table "Presentation of the feasibility of Luzanivs’ki lakes reclamation"

30 September in Odessa Regional Institute for Public Administration of the National Academy for Public Administration under the President of Ukraine was held a round table "Presentation of the feasibility of Luzanivs'ki lakes reclamation" The event was held within the framework of the social project "Conducting a public and environmental expertise of the feasibility of Luzanivs'ki lakes reclamation".


Experts and practitioners and scientists (climatologists, urbo environmentalists, ornithologists, biologists and others.), the authorities and the public attended the round table.
During the event, information on the measures implemented within the framework of "Program of protection and improvement of the environment in Odessa-city in 2013-2016 years in the new edition" was presented and the feasibility of Luzanivs'ki lakes reclamation was presented. Also at the roundtable, following questions were discussed:
- The role of Luzanivs'ki lakes restoration in the preservation of Kuial'nitskiy estuary;
- The impact of climate change on the natural resources in the Northwest Black Sea and the water content of Kuial'nitskiy estuary and Luzanivs'ki lakes;
- The possible use of the territory of reclaimed Luzanivs'ki lakes and creation of Wetland Park (technical capabilities and international experience).
Issues on Luzanivs'ki lakes reclamation and the establishment of the Wetland Park on the basis of purified lakes led to a lively discussion among the participants. After a detailed discussion all the roundtable participants concluded that it is necessary to implement the project on Luzanivs'ki lakes reclamation and clear Luzanivs'ki lakes territory from the remnants of pollutants. The participants also supported the proposal for the establishment of Wetland Park on the territory reserved for inclusion in the National Park "Kuialnyts'kyi".
